they should look like the unicorn edge, except the LV green stuff will leave scratches that are easily seen under a microscope because the alumina has more backbone on hard leather and can scratch the edge.
He probably has less control of the geometry with his method, and he leaves a bunch of unnecessary metal behind it, but I get what he's doing - finding something suitable for beginners.
We're generally past that and trying to find something else. (100% success, same or better sharpness by finish and by wedging resistance, every edge pretty much identical and edge durability that's as good as a blunt edge).
Not just functional, but worthy of the Constructive Laziness Club.
And cheap. Cheap isn't essential, but it's worth chasing.
