Thinking about establishing the Unicorn profileResponse To:
Sharpening and buffing progression pictures *PIC* () Bill Tindall, E.Tn.
These pictures brought into focus ( ) the two facets of the Unicorn Profile, one of which I was overlooking. In David's and your hands it is a rapid and seemingly sure fire means of establishing a sharp, burr-free edge. This fact alone will make it attractive.
The second part is the profile it leaves at the tip which strengthens the edge against the forces a chisel sees in preparing mortises and dovetails.
Because I have endured dulling by edge deformation the profile part of this discovery caught my attention. But the ease and reliability of sharpening could be attractive to an even wider audience.
