These are polishing tools to polish the finish. Even tripoli and White diamond are not good on bare wood. Tripoli will fill the pores of Ash and color it and white diamond will do the same to Walnut and ruin it. I will skip the white diamond when buffing walnut even when it has a light finish. I skip the tripoli on light woods. If you fill the pores with finish or a pore filler then you can use any of the above.
