I agree completely, and am not being disrespectful. But how do these statements help a turner analyze a less satisfactory cut and make appropriate correction? Trial and error have not been satisfying for me unless my fundamental understanding of tool presentation and cutting are enhanced. It is only in the last few weeks that I have changed my approach from trial and error to experiment based on a less than complete understanding of how the various tools "work" at the surface of the wood.
