What you are describing is a "cousin" to Paul Seller's way of honing a convex bevel. There is also a video on YouTube by a Steve Grimsdale dated 4/2010 in which he demonstrates his method of producing a convex bevel. There will be some differences because the unicorn method only affects a small part of the bevel whereas the Paul Sellers method affects the entire bevel. In a way, it all meshes together to lend credence to all of these methods. Note: I adopted the Paul Seller
approach about a year ago, and while I have been fairly inactive as far making things, I have experimented with my chisels and am happy with my simple tests.
