Subject:
Revisiting plane weight

Bill Tindall, E.Tn.
A lot of planing got done today in 30 second bursts. I am fitting drawers. I guess the weight discussion was fresh in mind. I was surprised how much I moved the plane with one hand. A substantial fraction of the time the plane was in the air, one handed, moving it, positioning it, setting it aside, retrieving it, plane a few strokes and repeat.

Pushing the plane back and forth on a drawer side or edge was only part of its travels. I think I have gravitated to the plane I prefer because it is nimble. I am not snatching the equivalent of a boat anchor off the bench and onto a drawer side and back.
