Subject:
Dia-Sharp Extra-Extra-Fine Question

Pat Riley
So, since this diamond stone was mentioned earlier, I thought I would ask for some first hand information.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I have all kinds of sharpening equipment, and use what I feel is best and fastest for each different application. These days I use DMT diamond stones for my plane blades. I end with the extra fine, then use a nice strop with green compound to finish. This produces an edge that is as sharp as any other method I have used or witnessed.

Recently the Extra Extra Fine D8EE was mentioned here, and I think it might show up at my house soon. (due to Father's Day). Have those of you that own this stone found it to be something you need? or just a luxury? Is it worth having one? I have never felt like I needed one, but have to admit, it would be fun to have.

Anyone have much first hand experience?

Thanks
