I should've explained what I meant better than that.

My little league coach had never played baseball. I don't think David has dimensioned much wood. If planes are never used for much heavy work where you have to understand efficiency and functional laziness, but worked with a lot of students who didn't have neural development (and the turnover is brisk, I'm sure) planing, it may be sensible to think that it's great to take the coordination right out of it.

I know David has said several times on other forums that the idea that one would do rough work with planes instead of machines is bonkers. For certain things, it may be, but for a hobbyist or even a guitar maker, it wouldn't make much difference in output (at least not in terms of quality work).
