Howard, the Feather blades are fantastic. Agreed.
But it is not simply that the blades are good - the razor is so good .. and so much better than others that it will take a blade which appears dull on other razors, and make it workable.
The question is why? My thoughts are on similar lines to David’s. In my thoughts, the bedding on the Feather razor -as with a hand plane - provides extra stability, as if the “roughness” experienced with the other planes could be thought of along the lines of chatter. Recall the old theory of the chipbreaker providing stability for the blade. It does that (and more, of course). Perhaps that is what we are seeing? Perhaps they were designed by Professors Kawai and Kato?
