Those Japanese razors

Hi David and all,

I wonder if those vintage Japanese razors were made from iron-sand steel (tamahagane), because that was available from the port town of Yasugi at that time, and had been smelted since the 7th and 8th centuries. It’s mostly played out now, in commercial quantities, but the Hitachi subsidiary ‘Yasuki Special Steel’ may still make or try to emulate the iron-sand steel in small quantities.
