Subject:
Dropped my LABP

Bruce Mack
Today I dropped my Veritas low angle block plane on my concrete shop floor. It must have landed on its nose as the adjustable mouth plate had jammed and blunted the edge of the blade. My right hand is often painful and the LABP hard to hold. After resharpening, I still had a plane that is uncomfortable in my hand. My Lie-Nielsen adjustable mouth block plane feels better and will be my go-to instead of the Sunday-best block plane from now on. I reread Derek's review of the Veritas premium block planes and I'm thinking of getting the DX60 which looks exceedingly hand-friendly. I'd like a comfort assessment from anyone who has held both. Thanks.
