Bowl/chair adze ()

Hi Derek,

The responses are all good and the truth is you will have to wait for a good handmade one unless you happen to find someone who didn’t take to the work after investing in the tools. Jason Lonon makes very nice tools and he has increased production a bit. His small adze with a slight flat in the middle is quite versatile for both chair seats and bowls. I used Tim Manney’s before and found it ok on pine, not so much for hardwood seats. I’m not sure he is still making them at all. Another option no one mentioned is Kestrel Tool, although I just checked their site and it appears they are on vacation for a bit, so there you go!

For chair seats you can get by without an adze, a little harder for bowls though as it’s hard work with a large gouge.

Take care,
Kevin
