Subject:
Finally have a snipe bill. *PIC*

ken ca
I've been casually looking for a snipe bill for a long time. Well, a pair would be even better, but I'm not prepared to pay the cash for a matched pair, either old or current.
In general,. the old ones are beat to death, worn out boxing, bowed front to back and side to side. I think I found a keeper, and a user - it's a J&L Dennison from 1820-1832 from memory, so almost 200 years old and it looks almost like new. Pristine full boxing and a pretty sharp blade needing just a few swipes with the DMT diamond hones to make good shavings. I don't know how something survives in this condition for 200 years but for $60 delivered I'm happy.
