Subject:
Dry India stone drinks up oil

Jeremy Osner
I found an old India stone while looking through a drawer I had not opened in some years... Actually there are three stones mounted on a triangular piece of wood labelled "Washita Mountain Whetstone Company", they seem to be hard Arkansas, soft Arkansas, and coarse India.

The India stone is blue and quite coarse, it feels like maybe 200 grit or so? If I put oil on it, the oil soaks into the stone immediately. Should I keep adding oil until the stone is saturated?
