I talked to Bruce Norton last night about the work you are doing blade testing. Bruce machined both the 3V and M4 irons that you are testing. Both machine in the annealed state, the M4 is actually better to work with than the 3V. With 3V the blade does not get hot but the chips come off the milling machine hot and air harden, he said they make wicked metal splinters.
