I wonder if there's more to workability in wood than Janka numbers.

Is there an abrasive inclusion in the lignin of species like Gabon Ebony, such as silica?

There's a reason Kezuroukai specifically select fine Alaskan Yellow Cedar for competitions - it yields gossamer shavings.
