I ground the tang off of the file, so I'm left with file body as a tang. I could probably make a thin wooden handle and drill it out, but the file that is now the handle was hammered/ground and somewhat irregular. I think epoxy would solve that, but it might be a bit garish.
Still surprised that rattan isn't easy to find. For this one knife, it's not important, but I'd like to come up with a solution that I can use again.
My father would've used jute or rawhide strip, but I'm not quite sure about either of those. Glue-soaked rawhide might be interesting, though.
