The two nice old ones that I have are beech only (no need for a lignum sole or anything like that), wood wedge and a decent vintage laminated iron. They are lovely. I think the two of them together were $40.

The muji plane that I got was $60. It served its purpose, I'm not sorry I bought it, but it would be better with a beech wedge. That'll be easy enough to take care of at some point.

My recent experience with true norris adjusters makes me wonder why anyone bothers trying to make a more complicated mouse trap than stanley made. I sort of understand it on a norris - there's nowhere for a bailey adjuster to go.
