Stewie, it's irrelevant. That was the point of my earlier post. The Lee Valley green compound, for example, is a known and available item. It produces an excellent result, and it does so reliably. The price is right. By contrast, purchasing 100% chromium powder to create a compound is neither easily obtained nor cheap. It may do a better job, but I fail to see a reason to need it since I get the performance from the cheaper product. In my opinion 100% is reserved for those more interested in sharpening than using.
