Bill Tindall, E.Tn.
On a serious note, I got proficient at doing dovetails by using them in situations where looks didn't matter. I thought of them as stress-free dovetails and I sawed them out with reckless abandon. When I made a 'Studio Furniture Grade" elevated base for wife's Victorio tomato juicer in 1" oak I knew I had nothing to fear from 1/2" poplar drawer sides. And by then I didn't give a damn what anyone thought of my dovetails so long as the drawer didn't fall apart.
