Subject:
Any of you hand tool guys ever make your own glue?

Keith Newton
I was out in the woods last weekend, when I came upon a pine tree which had been injured, that probably had about 1/2 gallon of hardened pitch hanging on the side. I was just imagining that if I'd been an early explorer, I'd probably want to harvest a little of it for something.

It could surly come in handy for starting a fire when things are really wet, and was used to seal holes and seams in boats. I even found a recipe for glue, by adding ashes from the fire to a melted batch.

Do any of you folks profess to be Woodsmen, and have other uses?
