Subject:
Spokeshave : Veritas vs. Boggs

Jack Guzman from Maine
I have both the curved bottom and flat shaves by veritas. These are the wood handled adjustable types designed similar to a stanley 151. I use these every day for many chairbuilding tasks and they work well. I am looking at the brass shaves sold by Lie-Nielsen that were designed by Brian Boggs. I've heard alot of good things about these shaves.
What I am wondering about is whether they are any different in use than the ones I have. Is there any advantage in acquiring them in addition to what I have? Do they function better at any tasks than the veritas ones,or are they just another tool of the same type only built out of different materials?
Has anyone had the opportunity to use both that could give an opinion on this subject?
Happy New Year everyone.---Jack
