I guess that I tend not to overthink these matters. For example, the important measurement is the one closest to a feature, such as a drawer edge, since that may make it evident if a joint is out-of-position (if there are two for comparison).

I've built a few demilune tables. The main difference was that the surrounding face was built of laminated Jarrah strips, and therefore thinner than your solid wood version.

I also began with a centre line ...

.. then saw and chisel ...
