I was reading an article about patent trolls (for work) earlier and saw this advert in the side bar:
Somehow I don't think I'm taking the same message away from this advert as they think they are conveying to their target market. What this image tells me is that they don't know what planes are for or do, that they have little appreciation for quality, and that perhaps they are easily distracted by bright colors. I suppose that the image was the correct size for their purposes, so they have that going for them.
On another note, I just got back from a 4 day class in Phoenix with Michael Fortune at the Southwest School of Woodworking. The hand tool content was admittedly at a minimum, but the jigs and fixtures that were built did give good insight into how Mr. Fortune builds his stuff. Also, the new digs for the woodworking school are great and the owner, Raul Ramirez, is a fine host. If you get a chance, take a class there.
