The Japanese plane has an independently adjustable breaker, hands up if we all get that. You just keep tapping it forward until it does what you want.

... on the assumption, Tom, that you are aware of this effect. I wonder what percentage of Western woodworkers using Japanese planes understood this, and used it as part of plane set up?
