Repairing the horn on a bench plane tote - one way *PIC*

Earlier this year, I helped my son with a garage cleanout. Among the treasures that followed me home was a Stanley Sweetheart era jack plane. This had suffered a broken horn on the tote, a common problem. The previous owner, an engineer, had solved the problem:

I think that's JB Weld. Certainly faster than gluing on a piece of matching or at least compatible stock and shaping it, but probably not my first choice.
