Subject:
saw plate cleaning advice

Eric
I've started heading down a more serious hand saw road. Learning to sharpen. That sort of thing. I've picked a couple of nice Disston cross cut saws and would like to clean the plates. They aren't very rusty or pitted. Mostly just need to clean them up. These are user saws but I don't want to wipe out the etching. I've done some searching on Youtube which usually works for me but found nothing but bad advice there.

Can anyone recommend a thorough yet gentle cleaning protocol?

Thanks,
Eric in Los Gatos
