Subject:
Convex blade spokeshaves?

Denny
So I'm working on this cabinet with walnut legs, and I thought it might be good to add some texture to the legs. I'm thinking about trying to do it with a convex blade shave. The only ones I can find are Kunz, Clifton, Emmerich, and a small bronze spoon-bottom shave from Lee Valley.

If the project were smaller I'd think about using a carving chisel, but the legs are over four feet long.

I've never worked with a convex blade shave. Is this a fool's errand? Any advice? Any experience with any of these shaves? Should I just stick with the carving chisels?

Thanks,
Denny
