Warren showed an open mortise design of plane that I recall him calling a Bouvet grooving or plow plane or something.

I think that's preferable for cutting drawer grooves if you want to do it on the cheap (and it will cut drawer grooves better than a plane with a metal skate, anyway).

I put up a thread earlier this year on sawmill creek showing the making of one (or a couple?) of them, but you really don't need to refer to that if you can just look at a picture and visualize things.

IIRC, it took about an hour each to make a plane like that.

I haven't got any thoughts on the muji plane because I haven't used it. I hear it's small, though.
