Subject:
Stick that curls right off the saw

Wiley Horne--So. Calif.
Hi All,

Little problem I need to ask about. I just resawed a small 4/4 stick of boxwood (Buxus) that's short at 12" long, and about 2" wide. The offcut was thin, maybe 3/16", leaving me 1/2" thickness in the piece I'll use.

The stick was dead straight before sawing, but immediately right off the saw sprang a bow of 1/16" amplitude over the 12" length. I believe this wood to be dry.

Question: Is this stick going to equalize tension and straighten itself out, or will I likely need to plane it straight? Any suggestions most welcome!
