Re: Early note on Atoma 400

I haven’t tried the Atoma 1200 grit. I have tried other diamond sharpening systems in higher grits, and I’d rather use waterstones.

The main advantage of the Atoma 400 in sharpening is that it will remove metal fast while remaining flat. For me, I can manage a 1000 grit waterstone so that I have to do a relative minimum of flattening, so diamond plates don’t have an advantage there any more.

In addition, I find that diamonds give me a “fingernails on a chalkboard” feeling that I’d rather not deal with. Waterstones are just nice to use.
