you could make the lid a frame and panel, where the panel is wood on top, mirror on bottom.

you could steam bend the curve into the long veritcal corner pieces of your case instead of sawing them. just as a way to conserve wood. you wouldn't necessarily have to get the bends perfect. you could leave the material oversize and then saw/plane/shave the curves to final shape after bending.
