Re: Does anyone throw away old fire extinguishers?

I do have an old extinguisher it is likely pre 1990.

The gage reads OK but I would not bet my life that it will work so I have new units positioned in all the key spots. I keep the old one around it would likely be the 3 or 4 unit I would use and it is next to the exit.

FYI it is a good idea to fluff up the agent in the extinguisher every year or so. The do this turn the unit upside down and shake you can hear and feel the weight of the power shift repeat 3 times. Then check the gage before you put it back on the wall.

If you are shopping for a new extinguisher I try to avoid the units with plastic valve bodys.
