Subject:
Jointer dust collector chute

Tom Dunlap
Today I started to mount my 6” Montgomery Wards jointer onto a better base

The jointer is now belly up so I can plan the chip collector. A chute for now.

At first I was going to box the area in to make a plenum. The chips would drop down into a funnel chute

Then I wondered if it’s necessary to allow a larger volume of air to flow down from the bed. I’ve read about collector plenum for table/bandsaws that needed openings to keep more air flow

Right now I’m not using any vacuum, just gravity. In time I hope to setup a dc system

Thanks

Tom
