Subject:
River top question, sort of???

Barry Irby
I am making a chest of drawers for my grandson. (This is a big boy chest for when he is older, he's not quite two. I am making it now while I am still alive and still can.)

The chest is white oak and the front will be quarter sawn. I have a piece for the top that includes a crotch with a bark inclusion. My first thought was to cut it out. Then it occurred to me that I could fill it with epoxy/resin and use it as a feature.

What say you? I have been looking at river tables for a while and wonder if they are not faddish. I also wonder how they hold up over the long run. Will dissimilar materials stay bonded forever?
