OT - Plumbing Question.

Joe in a Cleveland suburb
Sorry for the OT...

I have an ancient utility tub in the basement. I'm sure it's original to the house. The faucet is probably original too.

When I turn the hot water on it comes out strong then goes to a dribble. I turn it on higher so the hot water starts to come out strong again. Then it starts to dribble again. This goes on until it starts to stabilize and be a consistent strength.

I seem to recall someone once saying something about the washers causing that so I put a new washer on the hot side of this faucet. No change.

There are a few shutoffs upstream of this faucet for the washing machine and so on. Do those need to be replaced?

What might be causing this?

Thank you.
