Subject:
Bandsaw Lubricant

Garthinsandiego
A couple of people have asked about bandsaw lubricant in another thread. Starting new thread rather than hijacking that one.

What I think others have referenced is sold as stick lubricant, not specifically limited to bandsaw use. It is a mixture of waxes, primarily paraffin contained in a cylindrical cartridge similar to automotive grease. I purchased mine from MSC.

The primary advantage is that it is tacky and therefore sticks to blades or abrasives better than plain paraffin or an old candle (colored and perfumed paraffin. ) It is convenient to use (just push the end of the stick into the blade) doesn't crumble, and lasts a long time.
