Its a necessity for me! I made an MDF enclosure for my stereo (a Sharp shelf unit). I cut holes to align with the vents in the stereo. I covered the holes with speaker cloth (used hot glue to adhere). The door is a hinged frame with speaker cloth as the "panel." Works good to keep the dust out. The speakers are not covered but they are out of the line of fire and do not seem to accumulate much dust. I clean them once in a while. These small shelf stereos are amazing these days. Mine has a USB port so I can load up a stick with almost my whole collection and hit random.
