Walnut Lectern
This is a fine tribute for an admired educator.

I built this lectern at the request of my granddaughter, whose classmates wished to give it to an admired teacher. I couldn't come up with a set of plans, so I looked at examples on various Websites and extrapolated the dimensions from their pictures. When I was jointing the solid walnut boards for the front, the grain was so spectacular on one of them that I couldn't resist re-sawing it and making a book-matched front.

The top is hinged like a school desk to provide inside storage, and has one shelf in the column. I put small casters in the base to make it easier to move. All in all, it was a fun project.
