Firewood season sometimes makes me sad
| There have been so many like this this season and I just want to rescue them all for the bandsaw and turn them into something special as opposed to ash. [link] [comments] |

I looked everywhere for my right angle clamps. For like 2 weeks in the process of building a console cabinet for a friend. Anticipated needing them but couldnβt find them for the life of me. So I finally ordered a new set and when I went to find them a home, I opened up a drawer and there was the first set! I hate it when that happens!
Anyone ever order from KM Tools? I ordered a marking gauge on 12/21 and it looks like it hasnβt shipped yet. Iβm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt with the holidays but there have been seven business days in between and they are not responding to my emails. Is this the norm for them?
I feel like we are all beginners for a long time in our own minds. I have been at it for a few years now with a variety of projects under my belt. Recently had the opportunity to toss my name in for a directory of makers at my chipβs school. It surprised me how long it took me to have the confidence to commit. The deciding factor was a flurry of requests from friends looking for things made.
So what made you think that maybe youβre better at this than you think you are?

| My ROS finally gave up the ghost! Been thinking about upgrading for a while now and this is the push that I needed. RIP big guy. [link] [comments] |

I swear Iβm so tired of everyone wanting everything walnut that itβs like I roll my eyes whenever I hear it now. I find myself very drawn to maple, probably as a protest vote. The curlier the better IMO!

All I can say is that itβsβ¦different. Gloves stiffening up as Iβm applying because itβs literally drying that fast. Goes on beautifully. Kind of weird to be able to take the applicator I was using last night, dip it in the jar, itβs ready to use again! Using it to seal some old doors after stripping and before paint.

| Finished building my bench a few months ago and immediately put it to work. Finally getting around to flattening the top and my #7 makes it feel like such a breeze!! [link] [comments] |

Doing my periodic sharpening sesh this weekend and decided to brush the plates with water and a brass brush and blow clean/dry with compressed air after each blade/chisel. Made a massive difference in efficiency and now instead of having to start at 240 to reset my primary bevel I start at 800. No one ever talks about it, but clean your stones way more frequently than you expect to!

| | A month ago I got the bug to make this. You all encouraged me to just start making and here we are. Mistakes were made. Lessons were learned. Tweaked a few things like adding a drawer and used sliding dovetails instead of dominos in the original build. It is my most ambitious project to date and a solid effort if I do say so myself. It started out as a watch box and somewhere along the way became a jewelry box for my wife. Hopefully one of our daughters will want it someday. Thank you for the encouragement! [link] [comments] |
