I frequently get questions about how I sharpen my bowl gouge, what angles I sharpen at, etc. and my answer is always the same:
I do this, but what's more important than WHAT I do, is that I do the same thing every time so I know how the tool is going to work in the same way it did before I took it to the grinder.
That's where the Vari-Grind jig comes in. Once I find a geometry that I like (for now) I leave everything set the same way so that every time I go back to sharpen, I'm not changing any of the geometry on the tool.
