Attached is my latest, hot out of the photo tent. The form is called a "riders cup". This is English walnut, so I titled the piece "English Rider". It's 2-3/4" high and 4" in diameter. The thickness is a fat 1/16", and it weighs 36g (1.25 oz.) -- barely over one USPS stamp's worth. This is a nice turning wood -- medium density, not chippy but holds edges well, and goes thin with no instability. Got it as a thick roughout from David Fry. It's only curly on this side. ;-) The finish is Deft Clear Wood Finish Gloss Brushing Lacquer (wipe on, wipe off) and Simoniz carnauba wax, so this is the true wood color (and the photo is true color on my monitor) -- no ambering by oils. It's actually quite satin shiny, and I had to work hard to suppress the strong reflections. I'll be gifting it to my granddaughter, who just happens to be an English-style horseback rider. :-) ...GG
