Dodged a dagger!

That white is some kind of mold built into this slightly-spalted blank by Mama Nature.

This chip was not visible to the casual eye beforehand. It came off hard and fast with a very light, gentle cut -- with a BANG. I'm like, OK, what was that. I stopped the lathe and found this spearhead on the patio, up against the house wall, right in the line of fire where a person ought not stand.

Even out of the line of fire, wear your face shield -- things can bounce around.

Turn safely.
