Thanks for everyone's patience as we work through the latest server issues that have been affecting the messageboards. To further complicate things, my friend and major guru for this software, Steve Thompson, aka Superman, down in Oz, has just tested positive for Covid-19 and will be out of the picture for a while. Meanwhile, I'm in the last preparatory stages of upgrading our software and moving the whole magilla to a whole new server environment. If all systems are 'go,' we're going to move to the next steps. Meanwhile, we will be leaving everything else here until the new site is ready for prime time. I am having zero problems posting now, and I still invite you to report any problems you may be having.
Meanwhile, here is another snip from the scrapbook. This is a lamination form for some dining chairs I made in the late 70s and early 80s. This part alone, a 9' continuous strip of (9) white ash laminates, required 50 clamps, using five more laminations of masonite to distribute the pressure perfectly. The form alone took me the better part of a month off-and-on to construct. There were three other laminated parts for each chair. I made 17 chairs in all -- sets of 10 and 6 -- and then burned the forms. They took 80 to 100 hours each to make, so it was pretty much a charity project, but who's counting when you're having fun? I still own this one, the mockup.
