I thought I'd post one more blast from the past before I call it a day. Happily, it appears that one or more of the changes we've made are working, though I'm never overconfident. I appreciate your continued forebearance.
This is one of three bed protos I was playing around with a long time ago. Pardon the lousy resolution; back in those days, cameras were primitive by today's standards. The head and foot rails and posts are made of 12/4 cherry, and the panels are ambrosia maple --"ghost maple" is what we used to call it. The side rails had stub tenons and were cinched up tight with Holochrome cap screws into cylinder nuts in the rails.
Today, the bed resides in our guest room in our summer house that we built in British Columbia. Here's a detail. The head rail was shaped entirely with hand planes.
