A few years ago I bought a marples pull saw at Home Depot. The saw is japanese style with a rip side and a crosscut side. I discovered that this saw was perfect for leveling the legs on a windsor chair. I stand the chair on my bench top and level it using shims. Then I mark a line around the bottom of the legs parallel to the bench surface. Then holding the saw level with the bench top I cut the lines. This saw is easy to steer accurately and heavy enough and aggressive enough to make the cut easy to accomplish. I hold the leg with one hand and cut around it with the other. I have tried western saws and other styles of japanese saws and all other methods are too slow or difficult to be practical. I have used this saw on many chairs and it has become useless with broken teeth and gotten dull. I ordered a replacement blade for the saw but was wondering if there was a better quality saw that will do the job as well. I'm looking for a saw that will last longer.
