I encountered an interesting article on progress in high entropy alloys with very high toughness.

The article claims 5 times the toughness of "the best" steels, without sacrificing strength or increasing brittleness, even at very low temperatures. However, I don't expect this research to have any practical effects on chisel, plane and saw toughness, or other edge properties, in the near feature.
