I recently got a Stanley 51 without the board. It's all as it should be, though has patina and marks of age. The frog is sound, all the screws turn, and the handle is solid. I'd like to determine the value for it since I may put it on eBay. It has paint loss on the high spots, like where the patent date, number, and Stanley name are. The sole(s) could probably use a going over with some emery cloth to make it shine, and no doubt the blade needs sharpening, but it's a completely functional tool.
The last solid value I could find for it was $220-440 US, but that was over 15 years ago. I've tried eBay, but there's not much available for comps. All that seems to pop up is #51 spoke shaves
Can anyone suggest a good current source to help me price this thing? If you're interested I have some pics on imgur that I took right after I got it. I've since given it a light rub up with some WD40, an old toothbrush, and some shop rags to get the dust and old grease off it.
Anyhow, this is my first post here so thanks in advance.
