Using a 5 1/2 for roughing?

I have an LV custom #5 1/2 that I got primarily as a panel plane. I’ve liked using it that way. With an extra blade (which I already have) I’ve been thinking about putting more radius on it and seeing how it works as a roughing plane. I know the weight and wider blade isn’t ideal but I’m curious to try it with the 40 degree frog I have.

Thoughts? Is it worth trying?
