We are preparing to move within two months. I’m going through all my stuff, including a bunch of woodworking and luthiery magazines.
First, I’ve been going through Woodwork magazine, late 90s to early 2000s, and it’s quite nostalgic. Kind of reminiscing about my background and influences. Seth Janofsky, Yeung Chan, Carl Swensson among others. I loved the articles in Woodwork, although I wasn’t and still am not interested in studio furniture and art pieces.
Something that really stood out was how many women were featured in those issues. Unceremoniously, and not self congratulatory, self conscious, or tribal. I’ve always been a fan of Kristina Madsen as well, and I did some turning with Judy Ditmer as a result of seeing her featured there, maybe 25 years ago.
